Oh, to be a tuxedo cat, looking fancy all day without ever having to worry about what to wear...

I have my cousin's wedding coming up this November, and I've already started thinking about what I'm going to wear. I need to find something nice, figure out what shoes to wear, make sure everything matches, and probably spend a long time getting ready on the actual day. Guests have to dress according to a colorful dress code, so I'm wearing a lilac dress. I already solved the most important part of the outfit; now all that's left is to find proper shoes that match and glamorous accessories to elevate the look. 

Then I look at tuxedo cats and realize how unfair life can be. These little goofballs wake up every morning looking like they're ready to attend a wedding. They don't need to be trying on different outfits, and they surely don't worry about whether their shoes match. They were literally born ready for a black-tie event. And they don't even have anywhere to go! Imagine having a perfectly good tuxedo and using it to spend the entire afternoon sleeping on the couch. I envy them a little. Meanwhile, I'm trying to decide which pair of shoes will be comfortable enough to survive an entire evening of dancing. Because that's what really matters. A pair of shoes can be perfectly elegant, but if they won't let me dance, I'm not putting them on. I need shoes that align with my needs. And my needs involve dancing all night long.

  • Tuxedo cats might look like the most sophisticated creatures in the animal kingdom ready for a ball dance, but their behavior tells a completely different story. If you actually invited one to a wedding, they would probably spend the ceremony playing with the tablecloth, knocking glasses off the tables or trying to steal something from the buffet. You can dress a cat like a gentleman. You can't expect it to behave like one.

  • I've always thought cats were pretty good at making us feel like the staff in our own homes, but tuxedo cats take it to the next level. I mean, if cats were already the rulers in every house, imagine a tuxedo cat that looks like a little manager doing an inspection. They'll walk into a room, stare at you while you fold laundry, and leave without offering a single word of encouragement. Not even a little meow to acknowledge your hard work. You're still the one apologizing when you accidentally disturb their nap.

  • Some tuxedo cats even have little white paws that make them look like they're wearing gloves. Gloves! To dig around in the litter box! How is that not hilarious? 

    They also look like they have everything figured out with their elegant suits and all their seriousness, but they're just as ridiculous as any other cat. Even the best-dressed creatures can be complete goofballs. A tuxedo cat can be as silly as an orange. Well, not that much. But my point is, that's something worth remembering the next time we're stressing over looking perfect for a special occasion.
